Next Friday, August 31st, we will have our 2nd annual "5th Quarter" Cornhole Tournament immediately following Varsity Football game in Gyms A/B! Please see Mrs. Rhodes during lunch next week register your team! The cost is $10 for a team of 2 (free for teachers), and all proceeds will go to missions!

The HGCS Spirit Store is now open through August 31st! This is your only opportunity to purchase HGCS apparel this fall so make sure you stock up on all of your spirit wear needs today! Visit www.companycasuals.com/HGCS to place your order. Be sure to include the parent's name, student's name and student's homeroom teacher. Middle school, please list your 3rd-period teacher, High school, please list your 1st block teacher. All orders will be shipped to the school after the end of the ordering period and will be distributed to your child's homeroom, 3rd period or 1st block class. Curriculum Night

Do you want to meet your child's teacher and visit his/her classes and learn what the class is about and teacher expectations? Then join us for Curriculum night August 23 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Please bring your child's schedule and report to their first-period class.

    2018-2019 Student Re-enrollment Update

    The 2017-2018 school year Renweb Parent Portal will be closed on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
    For those parents who have not re-enrolled for the 2018-2019 school year and plan on doing so, you must submit your re-enrollment application by Tuesday, June 5, 2018. If you do not plan to re-enroll, please note that June 5 will be the last day that you have access to your Renweb Parent Portal and will be able to print final report cards. If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Office at 704-531-3589.
    For those parents who have re-enrolled, your 2018-2019 Renweb Parent Portal will re-open on Monday, June 18, 2018.


                                          

    SAVE THE DATE for this year's Heart of a Champion event with Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas Healthcare System)! HGCS will participate in the event on Saturday, June 2nd. This event serves as a FREE sports physical and heart screening, and it is available for rising 9th-12th grade student-athletes.

    Participants must register online at CarolinasHealthCare.org/Heart-of-a-Champion between April 30th and May 27th. ALL participants must ride the bus from HGCS to the event site--parents may NOT drop off students at the event site. We will let participants know our school's event time and additional details once they have been announced by Atrium Health.

    Upcoming Events        

    April 30               Heart of the Champion registration begins
    May 14-16           End of Year Testing. On Wed, May 16 students may bring a calculator for the Math portion. Calculators will not be provided if a student doesn't have one. 
    May 17                Pizza lunch. Students not purchasing pizza will need to bring a bag lunch that does not require a microwave.
    May 18                Last day of school / 1/2 day dismissal
    May 27                Last day to register for Heart of a Champion.
    May 29 -             Summer Camps begin
    June 1                Enrollment Fee goes up to $800
    June 6                Renweb Parent Portal closes
    June 18              Renweb Parent Portal opens for enrolled families

    Get ready to turn in your BOX TOPs! Our collection date is Wednesday, May 9th!

    Thank you for supporting Hickory Grove Christian School by collecting Box Tops. Our school earns 10 cents for each box top submitted. This is our final collection date of the school year. In order to end the school year with a big finish we will be awarding the top high school student with a Target gift card. We will also have Chick-fil-A cards for the top student in each grade level! You can help us reach our goal by sending in your Box Tops by May 9th.

    HERE ARE A COUPLE OF TIPS TO HELP MAKE SUBMITTING BOX TOPS EASIER:

    • Ask your family members and neighbors for save them for you.
    • Bundle your Box Tops in groups of 50 using a Ziploc bag or envelope.
    • Write your student’s name and grade on the bag or envelope. Have your student drop off the Box Tops in the container in the High School office.

    Our school will receive a check based on the number of Box Tops submitted which will be used to purchase items the school needs.

    Pizza lunch

    On May 17 The Middle school is sponsoring a pizza lunch open to all of Middle school students, to help raise money for the rising 8th grade Washington trip.  If you are interested please click here for the order form.

    Save the date for this year's Heart of a Champion event with Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas Healthcare System)! HGCS will participate in the event on Saturday, June 2nd. This event serves as a FREE sports physical and heart screening, and it is available for rising 9th-12th grade student-athletes.

    Participants must register online at CarolinasHealthCare.org/Heart-of-a-Champion between April 30th and May 27th. We will let participants know our school's event time and additional details once they have been announced by Atrium Health.

    On April 30, 2018, HGCS will hold our 19th Annual Golf Tournament at Pine Lake Country Club in Charlotte, NC. Over the years, this golf tournament has proven to be one of the most profitable fundraisers for our school. This year the AAA Booster Club has set a goal of $30,000.

    Funds from this year's tournament will be used primarily to fund projects such as additional Promethean Boards, a greenhouse for the Aquaponics science lab and for a future purchase of a new video scoreboard in the gym.

    We hope you would consider participating or donating to this worthwhile event. There are multiple sponsorship opportunities available for individuals and businesses starting at the $150 level all the way up to $5000.
