Shopping Boss

shopping boss.pngHGCS hosts two major fundraisers each year to support our growth in the areas of academics (technology), fine arts and athletics from TK all the way to 12th grade. We are excited to introduce a new opportunity this fall called ShoppingBoss!

What is ShoppingBoss and how does it work? ShoppingBoss is a members-only shopping program/app that works with national retailers and restaurants. You shop like you always have at participating merchants, and when it’s time to pay, instead of giving your credit card to the cashier (or food server), you use your smartphone to buy the merchant’s digital gift card through Shopping Boss. It’s delivered to you instantly, and you use that for the purchase, getting up to 9% cash back.

For a $20 donation, you will receive an average of 6% cash back at over 250 of the biggest National Brands. All the money you make is yours to keep just for supporting HGCS! Half of each ShoppingBoss sold goes right back to HGCS to support academics, fine arts and athletics. Our goal for this fundraiser is 100% participation from every student TK - 12th grade, with each student selling at least 2 ShoppingBoss codes.

Be on the lookout next week for the official launch of the ShoppingBoss program but for now, watch this quick video to learn more about this program and how you can support our school!

"I Forgot Table"

If your child forgot something from home and you need to bring it to school, there is a table at the top of the escalators, across from Mr. Hamilton's office called the "I forgot table".  You will need to take their item and place it on that table with their name on it and in between classes, they can check it. We will not disrupt class to have a student pick up a personal belonging unless it is a medical situation.

Week of August 14, 2017

Welcome Back;
We are excited to begin the 2017-2018 school year.  If you haven't already reviewed the updated Hickory Grove Handbook please do so.  They are several updates that you need to be aware of.

Dropping off and picking up students:
Students may not be dropped off before 7:20.  If you need before school care, please contact Victoria Henderson at victoriahenderson@hgchristian.org.  Also, students must be off campus by 3:00 unless they are supervised by a coach.  Again, you may contact Victoria Henderson for after school care.

Washington Trip (8th grade parents only):
August 9 was the deadline for the final payment for the Washington trip.  If you have not registered, this Friday will be the last day to register.  Click here for trip details.

Carpool Need:
Our two boys, Andrew in 10th and Connor Jones in 8th, are in need of carpooling, for one or both. To complicate things Andrew has football after school.  So we are looking for ride-sharing to school and for at least Connor to get home. We are also looking at the football team to get Andrew home.  Any assistance would be great and we can work out arrangements to share, or pay, if necessary.  We are looking for a solution to keep Connor after school until Andrew finishes football if that will help. This is for the Davis Lake area.

Upcoming Events:
  • August 24:  Curriculum night
  • September 1: Last day to order HGCS apparel from the Spirit Store
  • September 4:  Labor Day, NO SCHOOL
  • September 14:  Chapel (Honors dress required).  Please join us in the Worship Center at 9:30 am.
  • September 18:  Parent Night
  • September 22:  TWD, NO SCHOOL
  • September 25-29:  Spirit Week

Information about the Show:
Title: BOX (a One Act play) [Length: 35-40 min]
Author: Lindsey Price
Summary of what the play is about:
Sometimes we choose the way the world sees us. Black box - indestructible. Jewelry box - plain on the outside, shiny on the inside. Sometimes our box is defined by others - our parents, our friends, our enemies. A box built by others can feel small, confined, impossible. How do we handle the boxes imposed upon us?  Do we have to live with our box other people build around us for the rest of our lives? Can we change?
Performance date: May 5th (Friday)
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Event Center/Cafeteria
